Understanding how a vacuum bottle works and how to care for it will help you get the most out of it. Most of us know that a vacuum bottle keeps coffee hot much longer than a conventional single-walled bottle, but how does it work? Proper care of your Primus vacuum bottle ensures it lasts and performs well. Here, you’ll find tips on cleaning, maintaining, and storing your bottle to maximize its efficiency and longevity.
FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF A VACUUM BOTTLE
There is one basic key principle for designing a vacuum bottle to work properly. What it all comes down to is creating an insulation barrier between the two flasks – the outer housing and inner flask. To keep heat transfer to a minimum, the space between these two flasks consists of vacuum – a space devoid of material. As a result, the conductive heat is minimized between the inner liner and the outer shell and the heat remains on the inside of the vacuum bottle for a longer time. In addition, the inside and outside of the two layers is polished to absorb as little heat radiation as possible and instead reflect radiation. This principle keeps food and beverages cool or hot for a longer time.
PRIMUS VACUUM BOTTLES
There are more features to a great vacuum bottle than the vacuum principle. For example, a Primus bottle is designed with a large mouth opening enabling you to quickly and easily fill, empty and clean it. The powder-coated stainless-steel surface provides a good and distinct grip for you to keep your gloves on when pouring a cup of coffee. Some of our vacuum bottles features a conical shape which also makes for a better grip while helping you to slip it into a crowded backpack. In addition to the ClickClose seal for simple open and close, all the components in the lid easily unscrew to make cleaning easier.

WARM OR COLD - FOR HOW LONG?
How long your drink will keep its temperature in your vacuum flask will depend not only on what kind of flask you are using, but also the size of it and what temperature it has when filling up the flask. On the left, you can see three different graphs showing how the temperature will change during a period of 24 hours in our Vacuum flasks, Make sure the beverage is 97° C when first pouring it into the flask. Notice how it differs when comparing a 0.35 liter flask with a 1 liter flask.

CLEAN YOUR VACUUM BOTTLE
Clean it after every use, using a dish brush and washing up liquid. You can remove the seals in the stopper and clean them separately. If the product is difficult to get clean, use dishwasher detergent or bicarbonate/baking soda together with water and let it soak overnight.
Please, do not wash your vacuum flask in the dishwasher as the coating could become discolored. Also as the small opening doesnt let enough water into the flask to clean it properly.
